RED DRUM AND FLOUNDER TOTAL ALLOWABLE CATCH (TAC) Between January 1 and December 31 of the current year, when landing reports, as required by law, indicate that the 35,000-pound TAC for red drum or the 74,000-pound TAC for flounder has been reached, DMR will, with adequate notice, issue a news release and public notice closing state waters to commercial fishing for red drum or flounder for the remainder of that fishing year. SPOTTED SEATROUT TOTAL ALLOWABLE CATCH (TAC) From and after February 1, 2013 the annual TAC for commercial landings of spotted seatrout will be set at 50,000 pounds. The 2013 commercial fishing season for landing spotted seatrout will begin on February 1, 2013 and end September 30, 2013 and each subsequent year thereafter. The commercial TAC for the fishing season shall be divided into four month periods as follows: February 1 - May 31 = 25,000 pounds; June 1 - September 30 = 25,000 pounds. In the event the commercial TAC is not met or exceeded in the first time period (February 1 - May 31) the pounds will be added or subtracted to the second time period (June 1 - September 30). |
