Eco Concerns

This page is devoted to species of concern from along the coast. While not all species are protected or endangered, their numbers may be limited. The species will not only include marine life, but plant, feathered, and mammals as well.

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources' Marine Fisheries Office is working with the Florida State University Institute for Fishery Resource Ecology, which is sponsoring a tagging hotline.

  • The location of the fish, depth, and date seen
  • The estimated total length and weight of the fish
  • The tag number and a photo, if possible

Do not remove the tag. Do not attempt to harvest these fish. Goliath Grouper and Smalltooth Sawfish are protected by law. Your help is greatly appreciated.
