Legal Notice for Title 22 Part 2 Rules and Regulations for Shrimping in the Mississippi Sound

The Mississippi Department of Marine Resources (MDMR) does hereby give public notice that on August 19, 2014 at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission on Marine Resources, the Commission approved a Notice of Intent to update, modify and change below listed sections of Title 22 Part 2.  Said Notice of Intent was filed with the Mississippi Secretary of State’s office on September 16, 2014. A complete copy of Title 22 Part 2 and the proposed changes are available are available at www.dmr.ms.gov. Public comments on the proposed regulation changes will be accepted through October 20, 2014. TITLE 22 – MISSISSIPPI DEPARTMENT OF MARINE RESOURCES PART 2 RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SHRIMPING IN THE MISSISSIPPI SOUND

Title 22 Part 2 Chapter 5 Section 106

106 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to wash, drag, or pull a trawl or try net on top of the water or under the water with the bag tied or untied in any area of the territorial waters of the State of Mississippi which are closed to shrimping.

Further, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation to wash, drag, or pull double or multiple rigs on top of the water or under the water with the bags tied or untied in any area of the territorial waters of the State of Mississippi which are closed to the use of double rigs, or in waters which are closed to the use of that size, type or number of rigs.
