Trinity Yachts, LLC has filed an application for a Permit with the Department of Marine Resources requesting permission to conduct regulated activities under the provision of the Coastal Wetlands Protection Law Act, Title 49, Chapter 27, Mississippi Code of 1972. The applicant is proposing to extend an existing, previously authorized Synchrolift Launch System on the Harrison County Industrial Seaway and Gulfport Lake. The extension will include dredging, installation of groins and a mooring cluster, and modification of the existing Federal Navigation project. The Synchrolift Launch System will be extended by 120 feet for a total of 350 feet and will be supported by 6 pile-supported winch pedestals each 17.5 feet by 14.5 feet. Existing low level groins will also be extended by 120 feet. Dredging of an area 65 feet in width and 120 feet in length from a depth of approximately 18 feet below Mean Low Water to a depth of 25 feet below Mean Low Water is also proposed. A total of 1,725 cubic yards of material will be removed. A three-pile mooring cluster along the east side of the structure is also proposed. The applicant is seeking authorization from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to modify the existing Federal Channel and remove an area of future maintenance responsibility. Trinity Yachts, LLC received a variance from the Mississippi Coastal Program’s Guidelines for Regulated Activities allowing for the construction of the Synchrolift Launch Facility to a depth greater than that of the controlling body of water. The justification of this variance is based on the fact that the impacts on coastal wetlands would be no worse than if the guidelines were followed. The project is located at 13085 Seaway Road, Gulfport, Harrison County, MS. In compliance with Section 401 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act (33 U.S.C. 1251, 1341), as amended by PL 95-217, the applicant will request certification from the Office of Pollution Control that the above mentioned activity will be in compliance with applicable provisions of Section 301 (33 U.S.C. 1311), Section 302 (33 U.S.C. 1312), Section 303 (U.S.C. 1313), Section 306 (U.S.C. 1316), and Section 307 (U.S.C. 1317) of the Act and appropriate requirements of the State Law. Any person wishing to make comments or objections to the proposed regulated activity must submit those comments in writing to the Department of Marine Resources at 1141 Bayview Avenue, Biloxi, Mississippi 39530 and the Office of Pollution Control, Post Office Box 10385, Jackson, Mississippi 39205 before 1:00 p.m. on the day February 4, 2013.
